ASX-listed uranium developer Deep Yellow has confirmed that newly appointed MD and CEO Greg Field will start in the role on February 2, earlier than initially anticipated.

The company announced last month that Field would take the helm, and the board has now confirmed his start date as it moves towards key decision points across its development portfolio, including the Tumas project, in Namibia.

Field, a mining engineer, previously served as Rio Tinto’s MD for project development and brings 29 years of experience across operations and studies. His portfolio includes major project execution across commodities such as diamonds, copper, aluminium and lithium.

Executive chairperson Chris Salisbury welcomed the earlier start date. “The board is pleased to have Greg start earlier in the role. We are looking forward to Greg’s considerable experience and his leadership as we move towards critical decisions for our Tumas project and other developments in our portfolio,” he said.

Salisbury also thanked Craig Barnes, who has served as acting CEO during the transition period.

“I would also like to thank Mr Craig Barnes who has done an outstanding job as acting CEO during the leadership transition. Craig will return to his substantive role of CFO once Greg has commenced.”

Field is succeeding veteran uranium executive John Borshoff, who resigned in October, bringing an end to a career that has spanned five decades in the global uranium industry.
